Jewish Fertility Day 2007

Willow and I started our tradition of decorating eggs in 2001 ... I usually don't eat hard-boiled eggs and she can only eat a couple, but it gave us an excuse to do something fun, and we gave the remaining eggs to homeless people in Seattle (where we lived at the time). Neither of us being particularly religious, and understanding the eggs-and-bunnies theme doesn't have anything to do with the Christian Easter holiday, we jokingly called this a Fertility Day celebration. In later years we invited our lapsed-Jewish friend Stan! and the event became Jewish Fertility Day -- an excuse to hang out with friends, decorate eggs, and watch movies or listen to music. I never posted my pictures from the other times (though I have them archived and will eventually), so here I present Jewish Fertility Day 2007!

Far too many dye cups for just four people.

JD refuses to be filmed and is digitally replaced with a bunny hand shadow puppet.

Stan! being artistic and drawing on an egg, having seen me do it in a more pathetic, less artistic way.

My three comrades: JD, sister Keri, Stan!

One of Stan!'s drawn eggs. Yes, it says "I'm a egg" across the top ... eggs aren't good at grammar.

Eggthulu, another Stan! egg inspired by the strange green color JD got from mixing several dyes.

Eggenstein's Monster, one of JD's creations.

The pimento olive egg ... courtesy of JD.

All of our completed eggs, except for the "egg wearing long underwear with its butt hanging out the flap," which embarrassed JD enough (he drew it) that he decided to eat the egg before we took the picture. That and it meant we'd have exactly 24 finished eggs.

Thanks to Keri and JD for hosting!
