Description: Tarlyn is a tall drow, with
very light blonde hair and plain features. His eyes hold the remnants of
a former glory, and his heavy mace and tarnished silver holy symbol of
Lathander that he still wears mark him as an unusual dark elf. He is cold
and sullen, and takes joy in few things other than slaying his enemies.
History and Personality: Tarlyn was once
a low-ranked member of a drow surface-raiding party. When his group attacked
a small elven settlement, they were unlucky in that a human trading party
was present, and his group was defeated with the help of these unexpected
elven allies. Tarlyn was the only survivor, and he was taken in by Ralarth,
a cleric of Lathandar. Amazed that someone from the surface (and allied
with the hated surface elves) would tend to his wounds and not enslave
him, the dark elf listened to the human's words and began studying the
ways of the Morninglord. Eventually he took up the mantle of paladinhood.
When he and other followers of Lathander struck into the Underdark to smite
a group of drow trafficking in slaves and undead, Tarlyn was captured by
the mercenaries guarding the slavers - Seldszar's company. After much torture
and coersion, the poor paladin turned away from the light. Although at
the time he had commited no evil act, in his despair he had lost his faith
and the strength it gave him, and his old ways caught up with him, and
has since acted in accordance with his renewed evil nature. Now a fallen
paladin, Tarlyn serves with Seldzar, bitter and hopeless. He particularly
hates Dhaunae, for her goddess represents everything that Lathander opposed,
and her very presence reminds him of all that he lost. If he survives,
he will once again gain levels as a fighter.
[Yes, I cheated on this one ... the first eleven are supposed to be single-classed, but I couldn't justify a single-classed drew paladin that started as a paladin within the context of the Forgotten Realms setting.]
