Description: Rilrae is an athletic and pretty
dark elf, with shining white hair and black-flecked red eyes. She dresses
in leather armor, her stone-gray piwafwi, black boots, two silver rings,
and an amulet made of amber on a blackened silver chain. From years of
working as a scout, she normally keeps her voice hushed and makes little
extraneous noise.
History and Personality: A drow commoner
with a talent for magic, Rilrae was trained to be a scout for drow patrols,
using her magic to get out of danger quickly or complement her sneaky abilities.
When her squadron got separated from a larger force by an attack by derro,
they were forced nearer to the surface. Rilrae scouted ahead and reached
an entrance to the Night Above. Not far from her location were a group
of Eilistraee-worshippers dancing in the moonlight. Rilrae had never seen
anything so beautiful, and it struck her to the core of her empty drow
heart. Abandoning her weapons, she joined with the dancers, and afterward
they told her of the Dark Maiden. Abandoning evil in the face of such inspiration
and beauty, she returned to the Underdark and told her compatriots that
the tunnel led her to an armed patrol of humans, whom she narrowly avoided.
Decided not to attack the "humans" when their own group was cut off, the
leader of the patrol opted to find a route back to their city. Now Rilrae
holds her faith in Eilistraee deep in her heart and tells no others about
it, although in private moments she dances an echo of that amazing night.
Three times she has returned to that spot to meet with other worshippers
and trade news. In the spirit of the Lady of the Dance, Rilrae prefers
to make peace with visitors to the Underdark. If she notices a group entering
her city's territory, she tries to guide them out of danger by using her
magic and leaving clues behind to push them in another direction. In extreme
cases she will confront them directly and encourage them to go elsewhere.
