Torrey the Witch (Diviner)

This character was used by me in the playtest Demon God's Fane adventure by Monte Cook. I built her this way so that she could spy stuff and search things out safely, just to see if that would cause problems with the adventure. As it turns out, it helped a bit but didn't help in other ways.

Because this character is built as a PC (with the PC amount of gear), she doesn't have a CR. You'd have to knock her equipment down to that of an NPC of her level before we could assign her a CR under the current rules.

    Description: Torrey is dressed as a typical or classical witch, with flowing black robes, a flying broom, and a big black pointy hat. She tries to present an aura of mystery about herself but generally only looks strange or sullen.
    Personality: Torrey likes to act as if she knows more than other people, and prefers to keep quiet rather than reveal her ignorance on a subject. She is used to getting what she wants by controlling people with magic, and thinks nothing of charming or dominating some commoner to advance her cause or that of her fellows. She also feels that her magic makes the sanctity of a person's thoughts moot, and so frequently uses this spell even on people friendly to her group.
    Tactics: Torrey rarely attacks directly, preferring to use her magic to scout out a location, then enhance her allies with invisibility and haste. She usually leaves a spell slot open at each spell level so she can prepare other spells appropriate to the situation, if given a little notice. Only against very dangerous foes does she use her spells such as phantasmal killer and power word: stun.

     Necromancer: male cat familiar; Tiny Magical Beast; HD 14; hp 24; Spd 30 ft.; AC 25 (+3 collar of armor, +2 size, +3 Dex, +7 natural); Atk +9/+9 melee (1d2-4, claws), +4 melee (1d3-4, bite); AL N; Sv Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +10; Str 3, Dex 15, Con 10, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 7.
    Skills and Feats: Balance +10, Climb +5, Hide +17, Listen (as Torrey), Move Silently +9, Spot (as Torrey); Weapon Finesse (claw, bite).
    Familiar Special Abilities: grant Alertness to master, give master +2 to Move Silently checks, improved evasion, share spells with master when within 5 feet, empathic link with master, deliver touch spells for master, speak with cats, SR 17, can be scried on by master 1/day.
