New Argonauts -- Player Bios

I asked the original Argonauts players to fill out a little questionnaire. I'm sure this is a completely accurate cross-section of their lives.
(Note: I had them fill this out back in April before Interplay totally fell apart. I've adjusted some of the tenses in their responses as none of us work for Interplay any more, but if any of the sentences sound weird, it's my fault, not theirs).

Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was a 3D character modeler and artist.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
Back in college a friend of mine was starting a campaign (2nd Edition) and asked myself and several other DnD noobs if we were interested in playing.
We all accepted and went about making characters and destroying all of creation.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
I played Arcturus, the scion of Ares. He's a lot like Russel Crowe's gladiator character just without all the family loss, and the jealous prince, and the hordes of loyal followers, and the cool catch phrase. Other than that they are pretty much one and the same!!!
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
I usually like to play characters that can deal lots of physical damage or are at least adept at melee. One of these days I'll venture forth and play something other than a fighter.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
I used to play lots of 2d fighters (Street Fighter, Capcom Vs, SNK 2) before I moved here to "The O.C.", nowadays I play lots of Soulcalibur 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, and whatever else makes it to my plate. I'm pretty open minded when It comes to games, I'll usually try anything once.
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
I'm originally from Philly. A few years ago some friends and I decied to move to Cali, job or no job, to find work in the gaming industry. Things worked out well for us and I've met a ton of cool peeps since I started working for Black Isle back in 2002.

Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was a programmer at BlackIsle Studios which meant I sat in my office and smashed buttons on a keyboard, threw mice against walls, yelled, and ... oh yes ... I stabbed.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
As a child, I was strange, outcast, and abused. I wanted to be part of the "in crowd". I tried motorcycle racing, picking up on sleazy women, and competition eating all to no avail. I finally discover D&D gaming and hopped on the freight train to super-stardom.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
Zale (pronounced Zala by Zorba and friends) Thromes is the character of my loins. He is a scion of Poseidon (or Neptune to you ancient Roman types). He is very strong, very dumb, and very loquacious. Zale tends to speak loudly and often interrupts others. He believes loudness and righteous will make up for the fact that he really has no idea what he's talking about. Zale's saving grace is that he has a large and good heart, which may seem contradictory to the fact the he is really good a killing things with his trident and spiked shield, but trust me, it is not. In summary, Zale likes to yell and stab.
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
I generally like to play sneaky, low-key characters of the evil persuasion. So, Zale is a bit of a departure for me.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
I am a "game and sports" kind of guy. So, the answer to this question could go on for pages. I'll limit my self to a single response: I like to play emotion games that twist people up inside and generally make them feel bad. Sometimes I do it for gain, but mostly just for fun.
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
I will answer this one pictorially.

And this is how I look today:

Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was an artist at Interplay - mainly 3D characters ... some environments ... and a pinch of animation.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
UARTS in Philly, 1991... A good friend led me to a small dorm room with many geeks. I fit right in, and have been playing ever since.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
My character was Thyrsos. Being a streetfighter maniac, I kinda had Vega (American Vega - the guy with the claw and mask) in mind...a pretty boy who hates to be scarred...especially in the face. Not the best fighter in our group, but definitely the best looking! So, I focused mostly on defense ... a fairly high Dex and as much armor as I could carry, and a high Cha, 'cuz the ladies like that.
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
I enjoy role-playing pretty much anything. I try to come up with interesting and enjoyable characters. I'll definitely try to crunch numbers to get what I'm looking for in a character.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
Just about everything ... from video to board to PnP. I love 'em all! Fighting games are hands down my favorites, and I have the least fun with realistic sports games.
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
I need a haircut.

Chris
Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was an animator, but also I was routinely flogged as a part of an interoffice stress relieving program initiated by HR.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
I got involved in D&D in High school and have played at various times since.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
My character was Anaxis: he was a pretty ruthless killer, but in a "good" way.
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
I usually play the smashing types of characters who are too simple to relate to others in any other way other than physical violence. I find that they are easier to roleplay since they are closest to my real life personality.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
I play a lot of computer games as well, mostley console games.
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
Not much ... they might get me if I do.

James
Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was employed at Interplay as a 2D/3D Artist.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
Ever since I was in High School I've been involved in D&D. I have been in several campaigns and have enjoyed them all.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
My character was Xanthos, he lived only for the glory of battle. Xanthos seeks out all those who oppose the one true god, Zeus.
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
In the front of battle is where I always like to be, my characters are always charging in despite the odds.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
Video games of course!
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
I like bread.

Terry
Q: What did you do at Interplay?
I was many things at Interplay: Customer service rep, direct sales rep, webmaster, and designer.
Q: How did you get involved in D&D gaming?
I started playing DnD when I was in 8th grade. I saw the first edition books and loved the art on the covers, so I asked my mom to get them. Sometime after that, she bought me the first printing of the 2nd edition books and I was hooked.
Q: Who was your character in the Argonauts campaign, and what was he like?
Numa was the name of my character in Argonauts. He was self serving and interested in power, but willing to contribute to a larger cause for a chance to achieve fame.
Q: What sort of characters do you like to play?
I like the play characters that allow me to roleplay something I am not. Typically I like characters that act in an evil fashion. If I can manage it within the setting, I will always play a 'bad guy stereotype' who is a good guy.
Q: What other kinds of games do you like?
I enjoy role-playing pretty much anything. I try to come up with interesting and enjoyable characters. I'll definitely try to crunch numbers to get what I'm looking for in a character.
Q: What else you want to say about yourself?
I've met the best people in the industry of games. If you can get into them, I highly recommend it.
