This is my second Hirst Arts project, a simple keep. I say "simple" because it doesn't have a gatehouse or anything like that, but there's a lot to it. This is an xmas gift for my friend JD Wiker.
The front of the keep, with a Horned Felldrake miniature (WotC) for scale. The main door is actually on the second floor of the keep, with an exterior stair running parallel to the keep wall. The stair serves two purposes. One, it makes it difficult to use a ram against their front door, and two, it means any attackers have to stay along the wall (and thus under the defenders on the parapets) for longer than they'd like. The cubby-holes in the stair serve as storage for things that aren't particularly valuable but are useful (if it's a frontier keep, they probably contain rope, torches, and other such supplies.
The roof level of the keep comes off just below the bottoms of the decorative faces/butresses.
I've painted the base board flat black because I don't know if JD would want to trim off the base or flock & decorate it in some way.
A side view of the keep. The other two walls look the same as this one.
Top view of the keep. This floor is a piece of cut and stained plywood I got from my dad. The 5 ft. square hole represents where the ladder to the roof would be, and also makes it easier to remove the roof when used in gaming.
The interior of the keep with the roof plank removed. The main floor of the keep is at the level of the entrance door. The wooden floor another piece of wood like the roof, with a similar notch cut out for access.
The basement level of the keep, seen with the upper brick area and both wooden floors removed. A bit of minor decoration in the center of the floor (some triangular tiles painted a lighter color). The tabs sticking out of the walls are used to hold up the main level's floor.
