Back in the day, Ral Partha released several "three-stage" miniatures, reflecting a particular character at low, middle, and high levels so you could update your miniature to reflect your character as he or she adventured (Fenryll, a French company, is doing the same thing right now). This is the anti-paladin, stage three, after he's become a total badass and walks around some seriously powerful gear. I dunno why I painted this one first instead of the other two, though there are neat elements of the first two versions that I'm looking forward to painting.

So, plate mail, with a plated skirt over that. I wanted to do a frost them, so he's all silver and metallic blue. Runes on the sword were inked with black ink to make them stand out. Looking at the photo I don't like how the embossed skull on the breastplate looks, and I think I'll paint over it and try coloring the skull with a fine-point pen.

Plastic slotted base is glued to a washer and flocked.

This is an old Ral Partha mini, which is now a new company called Ironwind Metals. They're not releasing them in a three-stage set anymore, but the minis still exist in their online store ... here are stage 1 and stage 3.
