This is Charon, the ferryman of the Styx. He comes with a cool miniature skiff, which I painted up separately (not pictured).

Like many minis with long pole-weapons, the pole on this thing was bent from shipping, so I cut it off, drilled through his hand, inserted a metal rod, and bulked it up with greenstuff to make a new, sturdy boating pole.

This mini has a lot of nice little details on it. He's basic black, drybrushed with a medium gray. The pouch and the belt holding it are Aged Red Brick (for some reason I like reddish leathers when doing belts and such, probably to make them stand out a bit from the standard brown leather that I use for clothing-leather for a lot of miniatures). The lighter bits like the dagger and the edging on the shoulder decorations are a pale blue, similar to how I painted some of the spirits (to reinforce his theme as the guy carrying the spirits of the dead across the Styx). The edging on the hood is a series of triangular patches painted with Aged Red Brick with a dot of Fire Glow on each. The pole is Walnut. The keys (barely visible to the left of the pouch in this picture) are a darkened Dragon Gold. For the skull-face I wanted something other than just a plain bone look, so I based it in Plains (a pale, sickly green) and then did the Ivory and white over that (I'm treating it as a mask, as it extends forward a good distance from where a human's face would end, and I always considered Charon to be quite humanlike). Base is flocked with poppy seeds.

I used him to represent Charon in my New Argonauts campaign.
