These are the two minis that come in the Snakemen set from Reaper
Miniatures.
These guys took me a while. First I coated them with a turquoise green, then drybrushed a more emerald green over that. The scales on the belly were painted thoroughly with emerald green, then touched up with a mix of that green and yellow and finally pure yellow. The teeth are a bone white, the tongue blood red mixed with a little brown, and the eyes are blood red with a dot of bright yellow in them. The swords are plain steel, with copper decorations and accents. The snake backs (and the back of their heads) are what took so long. I used a .2mm Prima Pen to color the upper parts of the band of scales running down the back of each monster, but that didn't show up very well so I ended up painting a patch on each of those scals with a slightly darker green, then successively darker patches within those patches until they were a deep brown color. As the minis have different scale patters sculpted on them, I painted a different pattern on each (the one on the left has his band split into two parts and go along his flanks, the one on the right has his go right down the middle). |
