This is the Red Dragon from the TSR 25th Anniversary set of miniatures. Let me warn you right now: this miniature has a lot of parts and is a real pain to put together. If I do it again (and I have another one) I think I'll paint it in pieces and then assemble it, because as it is you have to paint around and under its limbs and body into some really small places. This mini was sort of a challenge because he doesn't have a lot of detail - unlike a character figure, he doesn't have armor, equipment, weapons, or any clothing that you could put patterns on. It would be really easy to make him a uniform red color, which would look bad. Instead, I darkened the deeper parts (such as the lines that define the muscles), drybrushed a lighter color on surfaces that stick out (like the outside of muscles), and did some faded stripes along the tail. The wings were all black, and then I painted the space between the bone-fingers a dark brown (really red + black), which were then drybrushed with true red. The base is painted shades of gray and brown, and then flocked with brown flocking. This miniature is for my friend Jason.
