This is Krusk, aka WotC's Half-Orce Male Barbarian. OH MY GOD is this miniature a pain in the ass to paint! He has so many little annoying details that you feel like you're never going to finish. In addition to his clothes, armor, and skin, he has a bolt case, a big skull on his belt, a string of bones tied to his belt, some weird bunch of tassles tied to his right arm with a strap, two unidentifiable things strapped to his left arm, a spiked bracer on his right arm, two small round pieces of flat metal attached to his armor, some belt pouches, a pouch around his neck and some other thing around his neck. Plus, the position of his arms means that his hair is in front of his head, buried in corners between the arms and his head. and behind his head under the haft of his axe. This means a lot of different things to paint and a lot of grooves where you can accidentally paint over something when trying to get to a particular item. Gaa, I wanted to kill myself. His clothing is Scorpion Green and his armor is Dark Angels Green mixed with Chainmail and washed with black ink. His bolt case, pouches, and some of his straps are Snakebite Leather, with the other straps Bestial Brown or Chaos Black. His belt, the weird things on the left arm, and the wrappings on the axe handle are Blood Red. The skull on his waist, the string of bones, and his teeth are Snakebite Leather mixed with Skull White, then drybrushed over with an even lighter version of that to show some texture and realistic shading. The metal parts of the axe and the spiked bracer are Chainmail. His skin is Dark Flesh, with scars a mixture of that and Scab Red, with the center of the scar a bit of pure Scab Red just to draw out the color. The face paint is Skull White, over which I did a light wash of black ink to make the lines of his face stand out well. He has stepped in some sort of goo (maybe congealed blood?) with his right foot, which is painted with Scab Red and then drybrushed with Blood Red. I used this miniature to represent Eddimar the Mad, an NPC in one of Ghostwalk's included adventures. Eddimar has his face painted like a skull and has many scars, which is why he looks the way he does. |
