This is the umber hulk from the non-Chainmail line of D&D miniatures from WotC. As with many of the WotC minis, he comes in several parts that don't fit together nicely. Also, for some reason it's built so when assembled, the left arm extends below the level of the base to actually touch the ground. It's also balanced really wackily, so I had to bend the arms up and the knees slightly back to keep it from wanting to tip over. I also ditched the antennae, since they would be a pain to attach and made it look too much like a monster-movie insect for my tastes.

Simple paint scheme here (although I started out making it black and blue, I decided to go for a brown/gray color scheme to let him hide in the rocks better). A basecoat of Volcano Brown (nice and dark), then drybrushed with Woodland Brown. Over that is a light speckling with Armor Gray to give it more color variety. Then i washed it in Wood Shade Ink. The eyes are Gun Metal, touched up with Steel Plate, with a dot of Truesilver (at Willow's suggestion, since they were hard to see).

The base is covered in gravel, with a couple of pieces of aquarium gravel (to give the base a less even look, like the hulk had just burst out of the wall).

My friend JD Wiker also painted one of these; check it out here.

I'm using this mini to represent Kotkot, a smart, dextrous, but slightly less strong than a typical umber hulk.
